My name is Pat Deegan. Like you, I have struggled with false beliefs that distorted what was real. Throughout my recovery I struggled with false core beliefs, such as “I’m no good. I am a bad person.” False core beliefs have made it challenging for me to develop healthy self-esteem. In my early recovery, I also experienced false beliefs that people were trying to harm me. Sometimes these false beliefs made it hard to focus on my responsibilities and the things that bring me joy.
Life with false beliefs meant living in fear most of the time. Medications helped. But over time, I also learned many things I could do to help myself. That’s where Personal Medicine comes in. This Guide contains education, workbook-style exercises, Personal Medicine Cards, tracking tools and reflection questions.
Guides are designed for single use by an individual and can be self-directed or staff supported.
